From Croke Park to Clonaslee: 134km on a High Nelly for BUMBLEance

On Saturday, April 11, I’m trading my camera for a vintage saddle to take on a challenge that’s been close to my heart for a long time.

I’ll be joining the Clonaslee High Nelly Club as we set off from the iconic Croke Park in Dublin. From there, we’re pedaling 134km along the Grand Canal all the way to Shannon Harbour, before the final homecoming push into Clonaslee.

Why the High Nelly?

This isn't a modern bike race. We’re on heavy, vintage steel High Nellies with no gears. It’s a slow, grueling way to travel, but it represents the kind of grit and community spirit we need to support a cause like this.

Passionate About the Kids

Over the years, through my photography and my work with Temple Street, I’ve seen the incredible bravery of sick children and their families. It’s a cause I’ve always been deeply passionate about. When you see what these kids face every day, a long day on an old bike feels like the least I can do.

We are wearing our yellow tops this year to raise funds for BUMBLEance, the Children’s National Ambulance Service. They provide "King and Queen" journeys for kids who need safe, stress-free transport to hospitals. Every cent we raise helps keep those vital wheels turning.

Two Finish Lines

We have a massive day ahead of us with two big milestones:

  • Shannon Harbour: The official end of our canal trek.

  • Clonaslee: The homecoming where we finally park the bikes and celebrate the journey.

How You Can Support

I’d be incredibly grateful for any support you can give to help us reach our goal for the kids.

Thank you for being part of this mission.
